Cradle Beach, where childrens spirits soar

Summer Camp Play Stations

Shortly after campers arrive at Cradle Beach, they have the opportunity to tour play stations. Play stations include both traditional and not-so-traditional camp activities. Campers are asked to pick three play stations that interest them. Staff then take their choices into consideration and assign campers to two out of three of their selections. Cradle Beach program staff schedule play stations four times per session.

Play stations have enhanced the value of the Cradle Beach experience by preparing children and youth for academic success in a unique, recreational, multi-cultural learning environment. The goal of each play station is to provide campers with the opportunity to explore educational areas in which they have a particular interest, and at the same time, accomplish personal goals.  Each camper chooses from an array of 16 Play Stations available to Cradle Beach campers:

Arts & Crafts                                        Photography

Basketball                                             Project Adventure

Beach & Nature                                    Sensory

Computers                                            Storytelling/Treehouse

Culinary Arts                                        Swim Lessons

Dance                                                     Tennis

Music                                                     Theater

Passport Abroad                                  Trailblazers

Campers select two of the 16 play stations and participate in each four times during the 10-day camp session. At each play station, counselors lead a special activity or project that is designed so that campers feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the camp session. For many activities such as swimming, theater, and dance, campers are recognized and applauded for their accomplishments by the entire camp on the last day. While participating in play station activities, children meet, work and play with campers and counselors from other cabins. Each one-hour long session maximizes staff supervision, individual attention and experiential learning opportunities through hands-on activities.
